Michael Andrews

 
Michael Andrews grew up in Cronulla, Sydney, home to some of Australia’s gnarliest waves.  He started shaping out of his garage when he was 16 and is now regarded as one of the best handcraftsman going around, with almost 20 years shaping experience under his belt including 7 for Rip Curl.  He has an amazing eye for detail and his passion for shaping is highlighted by his innovative & enthusiastic approach to his work, making him a sought after talent for high performance surfboards.  Joel Patterson, former Editor in Chief of TransWorld Surf magazine had this to say about Michael, “I talk to a lot of shapers, & everyone’s well aware of what Michaels doing.  He’s emerging as a leader, & guys like Matt Biolas say great things about what he’s doing.  I’ve ridden several of his boards and they’re really surfable.  When you get one in the water, you can tell he’s a fan of high-performance surfing by how it goes.  He’s making surfboards for the modern surfer, not wall art for restaurants."
